On 18th July, volunteers from Alzheimer Bulgaria Association had the pleasure to visit one of the leading international companies in Bulgaria – HPE Bulgaria within the framework of The Cause program.
The Cause is a local project of HPE Bulgaria established in May 2017. Its mission is to enable Bulgarian employees of the company to actively participate in significant social and voluntary initiatives. The main areas of focus are education, social sustainability and community building. The team of The Cause also aims to promote the online platform HPE Gives, run by the HPE Foundation, and motivates employees to support local charities. Alzheimer Bulgaria Association is happy to be one of the selected organizations of HPE because of the important and challenging cause it defends – supporting the most vulnerable elderly people with dementia.
During the visit at HPE Bulgaria, volunteers from the association presented information about the causes and manifestations of various types of dementia, how it affects patients, relatives and the whole society, as well as some projects and services currently under development. The project ‘Dementia Friends Bulgaria’ was also presented and we are proud to say that 17 new young people from HPE joined its community. ‘Dementia Friends Bulgaria’ has now made more than 130 friends in the country!
The team of the association is thankful for the support of HPE and will be happy to participate in other similar seminars and initiatives together to overcome the stigma related to dementia and create a more dementia-friendly society!
