2013-2014 – ‘Let’s hear the voice of dementia patients’. Their voice is important – promoting democratic values, including human rights. Funded under the Open Society NGO Support Program, 6 round tables were held with all stakeholders (affected families, health and social services) and 6 Open Doors (Consultation of Families with Problems) in the 6 developing regions of Bulgaria. As a result we published an outcome report outlining the services available to patients with dementia and their families.
2014-2015 – ‘Generation Dialogue. Towards a new understanding of dementia’. Also funded under the Open Society-managed program. Here we entered 6 schools – 3 in Pleven and Teteven – presenting the problem to students in high school. We chose this area because the parents of these students are economic migrants and thus the children are mainly taken care of by their grandparents, people over 65, our risk group. Outcome of the project – The Book ‘Dialogue of Generations. Towards a New Understanding of Dementia’ https://alzheimer-bg.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/dementia_book_for_tablets.pdf
