2009 – ‘Information Centers for Alzheimer’s Patients and their Families’ – funded by the Social Assistance Fund of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. We built receptions in Sofia and Varna where we provided face-to-face psychosocial and legal advice. Following this project and as a result of it, we launched a phone line for counseling dementia patients and their families and an advocacy campaign against discriminatory attitudes displayed by authorities towards patients and their relatives.
2010 – ‘No Time to Lose – Advocacy Campaign for the Rights of Alzheimer’s Patients and Their Families’ with the support of the Open Society Institute. Through this project we conducted 4 round tables-discussions – in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna and Topolovgrad, and also carried out a sociological survey examining the costs involved in the care of a dementia sufferer and the financial burden for families. The study helped us in the judicial battle for the reimbursement of the medicines for dementia diseases by the National Health Insurance Fund.
