The Memorable project is moving forward

The Alzheimer Bulgaria Association’s newest project, Memorable, is going full steam ahead. It aims to encourage the creation of a dementia-friendly society by training volunteers, (informal) carers, artists and arts professionals on the subject. The project is funded by the Erasmus+ programme and is implemented in collaboration with organisations from the Netherlands, Germany, Portugal, and Ireland.

In July, the consortium finalised the first outcome of the project. After careful research on the situation in the partner countries and the available services connecting people with dementia to cultural spaces, a joint transnational report was developed in relation to this topic. The report highlights the importance and benefits of dementia-friendly cultural spaces. It describes the current situation in each country regarding the participation of people with dementia in cultural activities and the difficulties encountered by cultural institutions in this regard.

The report also includes various examples of good practice from partner countries that can be applied in other locations or used to inspire other activities.

The report will be translated into Bulgarian and will soon be available on the Memorable project website. Next steps for the project include the planning and development of training materials to equip cultural professionals with the skills to create dementia-friendly cultural spaces.
